In the year 1894, Rugby was first played in Havelock North, in 1994; the Havelock North Rugby Club celebrated 100 years of the Havelock North Rugby Club's existence, the colour of the HNRC is Black & Blue hoops with yellow numbers.
In 2010 the Havelock North Rugby Club is the leading club in the Hawkes Bay Club Rugby competition winning the Black & White Shield - back to back.
On Staurday 7th August 2010 at McLean Park the Progressive Meats Havelock North team won the Maddison Trophy final vs. Taradale 53 - 10 (h/t 34 -3) Captain Davis Norman. 18yr old Ihaia West scored 272pts for the season - this is a HNRC record.
On Saturday 14th August 2010 at Anderson Park the Turks Bar Havelock North Development won the Jack Swain Cup final vs NOBM 13 - 6 (h/t 6 -3) Captain Michael Sisam. Matt Goodwin scored 27 tries for the season - this is a HNRC record
On Saturday 21st August 2010 at Ellwood Park Kinetic Electrical Havelock North Colts (U20) team won the Pat Ryan Trophy final vs HRS 6 - 0 (h/t 6-0) Captain Tony Lamborn
The Havelock North Rugby Club is the current holder of the 2010 Premier Maddison Trophy, Cooper/O'Dwyer Cup, Pat Ryan Memorial Trophy, Jack Swain Cup, HB Premier 7s title and the Black & White Shield (Top HB Club)
On Saturday 13th June 2009 HNRC Premier player Bryn Evans became the HNRC 3rd All Black playing in the Test vs France. Bryn joins Hika Elliot and Danny Lee on the clubs All Blacks honours board. All 3 players started their rugby careers with HNRC junior rugby as 5yr olds.
In 2009 the HNRC Premier Development team won both rounds the Pratt Trophy & Jack Swain Cup and our Division 3's won both rounds the Maury Cup & Ron Parker Memorial Cups.
Havelock North plays in the Hawkes Bay Rugby competition which provides representatives to the Kelt Capital Magpies Bryn Evans, Adam Bradey & Gillies Kaka (see our honours board).

- International Rugby Players Welcomed-
Contemplating a season of Rugby 'down under? For those overseas rugby players wanting to travel to New Zealand to play Club Rugby we encourage you to contact the e-mail address above. Havelock North plays in the Hawkes Bay Rugby competition which provides representatives to the Kelt Capital Magpies. This Hawkes Bay team features 12 players to Super 14 level, 2 of which came from the Havelock North Premiers. Bryn Evans and Hikawera Elliot. Two All Blacks don the Havelock North Club jersey in Danny Lee (All Black in 2002) and Hikawera Elliot (All Black 2008)
We currently field 4 senior sides and can provide excellent coaching to those players wanting to further their career by playing rugby in New Zealand.
You will need: A passport, a working visa, airfares, a transfer from your present club allowing you to play for Havelock North, Boots, Training gear, Money and a good attitude
